10/03/2003 March 10, 2003 LAS VEGAS - You don't have to live in Hollywood to experience the magic and excitement of Oscar Night®. Citizens of Las Vegas can join in the festivities when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stages its 75th Annual Academy Awards® Ceremony on Sunday, March 23, 2003, by attending Las Vegas' only Academy-sanctioned Oscar Night® America party. Benefitting the Arthritis Foundation of Southern Nevada, the official Las Vegas Oscar Night® celebration will be held at the Caesars Palace, Pavilion beginning at 4 p.m., with the After Glow Reception at the new Cypress Street MarketPlace in Caesars Palace immediately following the Academy Awards® presentation. A silent auction will be featured 4-5:30 p.m., followed by a reception during the awards broadcast 5:30-9:30 p.m. Four Caesars restaurants will provide "A Tasting of Caesars," with delicacies prepared by celebrity chef Bradley Ogden (of the new Bradley Ogden restaurant), celebrity chef Jean-Marie Josselin (of 808), and the chefs of Terrazza Italian restaurant and Hyakumi Japanese Sushi Bar and Restaurant. Guests also will enjoy competing for prizes in the "Predict the Winner" contest, a fashion show sponsored by FRED-Paris and The Forum Shops at Caesars, the PARIS salon hosted by FRED-Paris, and the Shadow Cigar Lounge hosted by Caesars' Shadow Bar concierges.
The Caesars Palace audience will view the live telecast of the Academy Awards® Ceremony on four large screens. Each guest will receive the same official program distributed to guests seated at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, Calif., as well as the 75th Academy Awards commemorative posters designed by the Academy's official artists. Guests will enjoy other exciting details such as a cigar bar hosted by Monte Cristo Rum and a live fashion show. As a very special addition, the Las Vegas Oscar Night® America Party will have Robin Leach of "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" as the celebrity Master of Ceremonies, as well as local KTNV-TV 13 news anchors Cathy Ray and Ross Becker.
"This year promises to be the best Oscar Night party we have done," said Sandy Peltyn, who along with her husband Roger and Joseph and Lisa Heck, will serve as Oscar Night® America Chairs this year. "The chefs at Caesars Palace are designing an Academy Award-worthy menu." This year marks the 8th year the Las Vegas party has been officially sanctioned by the Academy, benefitting the Arthritis Foundation.
